Notes: 1 note
Today kind of embodied the what I love about romantic comedies. You know those stories where things seem to happen ironically but in the end everything falls into place and you’re left with a warm fuzzy feeling… Yeah, that was day 15.
It began like any other rainy day, before work I watched a little TV curled up on the couch trying to avoid the inevitable feat of getting ready for work as long as possible. Finally time came and I got up and started to get ready for work.
I did my little bathroom/shower show, went back and forth ten jillion times about what to wear, got a quick bite and the grabbed my umbrella as I bounced out of the door to continue with my journey to work. I wasn’t really sure if I needed my umbrella because it rained last night, but I brought it anyway — better safe than sorry. Not my usual motto, but I went with it today.
Sweet golden baby Jesus was looking out for me today. After I had been at my bus stop for about 30 minutes it started to sprinkle. No big deal but I put my umbrella up so that the rain wouldn’t get on my face because the last thing I want 8 days before my birthday is to get sick. After getting a little bit heavier the rain stopped for minute, then it picked up again.
While being sprinkled with God’s piss (too much?) rain I had the strangest epiphany. Usually I feel like my mood is direct connected to the weather: on sunny days I’m happy and on rainy days I’m a bitch, but today was different. I was happy… Giddy even. So as I’m twirling my umbrella and smiling like the lost cast member of Signing in the Rain, I realized I had been waiting for my bus for about 45 minutes. Then my phone rings:
“How are you on the fine sunny day?”
Are you kidding me? I had to laugh because I knew my friend was being sarcastic and didn’t know I was actually standing in the rain. It seemed like RIGHT when he said that the rain got harder and as we joked the rain began to come down in buckets. My pants got about 2lbs. heavier and 5 shades darker.
Luckily, he offered to take me to work! (Look at that perfect timing!)
As he made his way to my side of town, I walked the 4 blocks back to my house and my clothes got darker and more wet and even more heavy. By the time I got back to my house I was soaked from the waist down, so when I walked in the house I immediately try to figure out what the hell I’m about to change into as I think to myself, “like getting ready the first time wasn’t difficult enough.”
As usual we laugh and joke and clown all the way to my job.
Even though it was the afternoon, it was a great start to my day and I truly, truly, truly, definitely, exactly appreciate it!
Of course I called my mom (who is basically in loooooove with my friend anyway) and told her all about it and she’s like: “You got a good one.”
And I do.
Happy Birthday me.
